I am 60 years old now, and I have been using perfume on a daily basis for as long as I can remember. I must have started when I was about 18 years old, when I first noticed my mother using it. She was spraying a kind of liquid onto her body and for a long while after that, she would have a fragrant smell lingering around her for a few hours. I asked her what it was and she sprayed a little on me, explaining to me what it was and how to use perfume. She told me when to use perfume, how it would attract people by its scent and only people who were well provided for could afford it. From that day on, my mother bought me my own perfume, and I started using it more frequently.
Throughout my life, I only remember using 6 different perfumes. They were all popular perfumes as I only used the best perfumes for women. I was extremely loyal when it came to choosing my perfumes. No matter how many times I ran out, I would only purchase the same one over and over again. Only when I decided that the perfume I was using was not appropriate for the stage of life I was in, did I find a new one to replace it. My first ever perfume I owned was purchased by my mother. It was a perfume named Diorling by Christian Dior. It had a very fruity smell, as it mainly contained jasmine, rose, iris and bergamot. I felt it was perfect for me at that time because I was young and the scent suited my youthful and carefree character.
By the time I reached my 30s, I had used another 2 different perfumes until I moved on to Paris by Yves Saint Laurent. I felt that I needed a perfume that would suit my advancing years. The perfume would smell more mature and classy than the ones I used when I was younger. I chose this perfume because it was produced as a tribute to the people of Paris, who are seen as classy, romantic, charming and simple. Paris gives out a scent, which is woody and floral, with a beautiful combination of roses, violet and bergamot. I have bought Paris over and over again for around 6 years until I moved on to my next perfume.
Before my current perfume, I used Chance by Chanel, which suited the stage of life I was in. It has a mixture of flowery and spicy notes that makes the perfume mysterious and sexy. With its pink pepper, lemon, jasmine, iris and white musk, Chance is just what it is, taking a chance of an adventure to the unknown. It is slightly spicy and adds to the mystery behind the perfume. I loved it so much that I used it for 8 years before I settled on the perfume I am currently using. That rounds up my favorite 3 perfumes over my entire lifetime. Given my age, I may not have that many left, but I will have no regrets, having had these three perfumes in my life.
